Lexi from Ovilla Christian School came to Ivey Photography for her 80’s style senior portraits in Midlothian, TX. She is the fourth of five in her family to come to Ivey for her senior pictures. We also photographed her 3 older brothers when they were seniors.
80’s Senior Style
Lexi is a bit of an old soul. She’s an 80’s girl trapped in 2020. Her favorite TV series is Stranger Things. She loves all of the 80’s John Hughes movies. Her favorite movie is The Breakfast Club, so we recreated a few of the images from the movie and quoted all the lines we could think of during the session. The famous Judd Nelson “air punch” was one of her favorite shots we made. Lexi brought us several outfits to work with, all in her own style. She wears Doc Martins and baggy jeans. Her leather jacket full of pins was a perfect accessory. She has a cute sensibility and an easy-going way about her. For the first few photos, we used the classic grunge brick wall in the studio with Lexi’s men’s style blazer over a sweatshirt and jeans. She added classic white Convers Chuck Taylors to complete her look. I went with a more masculine pose to create a look you may see on the back of a cassette tape.
Senior Pictures with a Hedgehog
In 11 years we’ve photographed a few different kinds of animals. Lexi was the first senior to bring her pet hedgehog for pictures. I’d never seen a hedgehog in person, so Hazel the Hedgehog was my first experience with one. She was gentle and easy to handle. As soon as I saw her and her spines and little nose, I knew the shot I wanted. I knew if I let the lighting fall on her from behind, we could get a really pretty view of those spines. I also knew Lexi would look good in profile light. So we combined the two ideas and had them get nose to nose for a really cute interaction and really pretty lighting on both of them.
