Best in Show Award – SWPPA District Photo Competition

Chris Smith, of Ivey Photography, was awarded “Best in Show” at the Southwest Professional Photographers Association District Photographic Competition in San Marcos, TX.  His print, “Permission to Buzz the Tower” was awarded a perfect score of 100.  There were over 750 entries from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana and Utah.  Chris’ print was the only one to score a 100.  If you aren’t familiar with professional print competition, the closest thing to compare it to might be BBQ Competition.  The judging is strict, exacting, and the judges are looking for something very specific.  It is rare to enter a photograph in competition with the exact same finish or presentation you might take home to your living room.

Last summer, Chris earned a Gold Medal at the International Print Competition, held in Atlanta.  He was awarded 6 PPA Merits, with 2 prints in the General Merit Collection, and 2 prints accepted into the prestigious PPA Loan Collection.

We are not able to share the images at this time, since they are eligible for national awards in the summer of 2015.  Once the national judging has concluded, we will share them online.
