Hunter came to Ivey Photography in Midlothian so we could create his baseball senior portraits. As a senior, he is a starting infielder/outfielder for the Midlothian High School Baseball team. Hunter is also an avid hunter and outdoorsman. We also created a variety of studio portraits including a casual cap & gown photo. We kept the session light-hearted and had fun with Hunter’s easy-going personality. Like most senior guys, he was reluctant to come in for senior pictures. Once he saw what we were creating in the camera, he quickly loosened up and began to offer ideas and get into the ideas we had for him.
We started with portraits in the studio before moving to the Midlothian High School’s new baseball stadium. The studio portraits represented Hunter’s family legacy as his grandfather was the founder of Ivey Photography, Mr. Ray Ivey. Mr. Ivey also photographed hundreds of sports teams in our area. We hope he would have been proud of our efforts while at the baseball field.
Coach Ray Hydes of the Midlothian High School baseball team was kind enough to allow us one hour of sunset time at the field. When we arrived another photographer was completing a session with one of Hunter’s teammates. We waited for the sun to set and for the stadium lights to come on. Most of the baseball games in the MISD are played at night. I wanted Hunter’s portraits to reflect his playing days for the Panthers. I used a combination of Stella Pro LED constant lights and the Godox AD600 Flash to light Hunter’s pictures. I made use of the lighting in the stadium and made my lighting resemble the stadium lights.
Here are a few of our favorite images from Hunter’s senior portrait session in Midlothian, TX.
