A Bella Woods Wedding
We have been the preferred wedding photographer by venues all over DFW, but when we are blessed with a wedding to photograph at Bella Woods, we get very excited. In June 2017, we photographed the wedding of Emily & Riley at Bella Woods in Midlothian, TX. Everything about this location, the flowers and decor to the natural beauty of the surrounding garden was a perfect fit for this couple and their style. Bella Woods is a new wedding venue in Midlothian, just minutes from downtown Dallas.
The Pre-Wedding Pictures
As a wedding photographer, Bella Woods is all you can hope for in a new venue. The bridal suite is spacious and gave us an opportunity to photograph the bride’s coverage, even while her bridesmaids were still getting ready. The groom’s dressing area was a little smaller, but was stocked with everything the guys needed, including a regulation pool table. Take note of the 06-11-17 pool table shot in the gallery! We like to work outside around the location to help capture the feeling the venue gave the couple when they selected it. In this case, it was a bright, hot, sunny day, so went looking for a little shade to keep the ladies in their make up and the guys from sweating through their shirts completely. Bella Woods old schoolhouse style building has the perfect front porch for pictures. One thing you’ll learn about us, we work fast, and once we’ve selected an area for portraits, we don’t over photograph it and we don’t linger long. Once we captured the bridal and grooms parties, we were off to the ceremony site.
The Ceremony Pictures
Emily and Riley opted to do a first look, so we made use of the window light in the beautiful chapel and gave them a chance to visit. I always love the shock on a guys’ face when he sees a woman in a wedding dress. Soon after we were headed into the ceremony, and the space offered us several great angles to capture the action. During a wedding ceremony you will never notice an Ivey Photography staff member. We maintain a respectful distance from the alter and we use the appropriate length lens to create images that tell the story. You’ll see images that are wide enough to tell the story, and close enough to show the details.
The Reception Pictures
The reception and ceremony sites at Bella Woods are separate venues on the same property. Emily & Riley chose the Barn for their reception. It is the largest space on the property and allowed their 150+ guests plenty of room to eat, drink and be merry. My favorite feature of the space was the upstairs loft that allowed me an overhead perspective of the dance floor and cake cutting areas. Photographing a wedding reception from above is something you don’t always get to do, and I found it to be relaxing and no one even knew I was taking their picture. I especially love the first and last dance images from this angle, where we were able to isolate the couple in a way that made it seem as if they were the only two people in the world. I’m sure that’s how they felt in those moments and hopefully the images will help them remember that feeling one day.
Congratulations to Emily & Riley and to their families who worked so hard to put together such a beautiful celebration for them. If you’re considering a wedding photographer in North Texas, especially the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area, please give Ivey Photography an opportunity to be a piece of a successful wedding plan for you. Cheers!
Debi SniderEmily was such a beautiful bride, and she’s just as sweet as she is lovely. Best wishes to the happy couple. I love the photos! I love the venue, too!
