Family Portrait Session in Midlothian by Ivey Photography
For the Summer Family and their 2 small children, we chose a creek setting for a casual fun atmosphere for the kiddos. Mom wanted a lighter feel and the white rock and sandy areas gave us a beach type feel in the images. With small children, our goal is to keep them engaged during the session, so the area we chose gave them rocks to climb, shallow pools to stomp in, and plenty of open space to roam. For August, it wasn’t too hot since we were on the heels of Hurricane Harvey, giving us some nice cloud cover to work with. I chose to add light using a flash to give some added depth and dimension to the images. For the main family portrait, we chose to finish it in a full digital painting, rather than our traditional basic retouch. The piece will hang as a focal point in the family’s home and we wanted it to make a statement. It will be finished on our HD Metal prints and framed for a classic look.
We have openings for fall family portraits through October 31. Be sure to ask about our sessions at Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm, where we are the exclusive commercial photographer for the park.
