Susan and Travis had their wedding at The Crescent Hotel in Dallas in September 2013. The Crescent Hotel is a Rosewood property, part of the same company that owns The Mansion on Turtle Creek, where Susan had her bridal portraits made with us. For their wedding day, Susan and Travis both prepped on site at The Crescent, which made a perfect backdrop for their photos. After a few preparations, we chose to make the family portraits, along with the portraits of the bridal and groom’s parties in the main courtyard of the hotel. We had great weather and the lighting was just what we ask for when photographing family groups. There are too many good images to share here, but both Travis and Susan’s families were so easy to work with and showed us such a wide range of emotions. Family is very important to both of them, and we made sure to capture their special relationships. Both the ceremony and reception were on the 17th Floor of the Tower at The Cresent, and every room on the entire floor was stunning. On a technical note, Susan and Travis wanted a very intimate feel for their ceremony. They elected to have basically no lights on, and only have the room lit by candle light. We can tell you that this made photographing their ceremony a challenge. We photograph with the Nikon D4 camera body and the fastest brightest lenses on the market, and even we were pushing our equipment to its limits. Nevertheless, we were more than ready for any lighting conditions and the ceremony was beautiful. One thing for those of you with relatives who may officiate your wedding, remind him/her to have the congregation SIT DOWN after the bride reaches the altar. Susan’s uncle was so nervous for them, he left everyone standing the entire time. Luckily, he was fast or else an Aggie Football game might have broken out. 🙂 The reception followed the ceremony and featured a fabulous dinner, followed by cake, drinks, and lots of dancing. The night ended with a stretch of 80’s rap hits and a grand exit to sparklers and a Rolls Royce! Enjoy the images and be sure to leave the happy couple a comment wishing them well.
